    Coming to visit for Thanksgiving. I've heard the resorts are grandly decorated for Christmas and mom and I wanted to tour a few. Are they decorated at this time and in your opinion worth the time to visit them? If so, which are can't miss? Thanks!!

    Hi Pamela,

    The Disney parks and resorts are all decorated for the holidays beginning in mid-November. I've been to Walt Disney World several times during Thanksgiving week and the resorts have always been decked out in their Christmas finery at that time.

    If you like Christmas decorations, then wandering around the resorts when they're decorated is great fun.

    The biggest "must see" resort holiday display is at the Grand Floridian. Every year, the resident chefs build a life-size gingerbread house in the lobby. My favorite part can be best seen from the second floor of the hotel. If you look at the gingerbread house chimney from there, you can see periodic gingerbread-scented puffs of smoke emerge.

    There is a wonderful gingerbread carousel in the Beach Club lobby each year. And the nearby Yacht Club hosts a fantastic toy train display.

    My favorite Christmas tree at Walt Disney World is in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge. It soars several stories tall and is festooned with tiny canoes and other outdoorsy objects. So cute!
