Coming this summer for the first time with a 9 and 7 year old. What are some good chioces for dinner. We are more tradition meat and potato eaters. Also what would be good character dinners. They don't have anyone special they like. Thanks

Hi, Joe!  There are quite a few delicious dining options for your meat and potatoes loving family!  One of our favorites is the Liberty Tree Inn at the Magic Kingdom.  Your meal is served family style, and it's all you care to eat.  You will be given a nice salad to start with, but your main meal consists of roast turkey, smoked pork loin, and carved beef with mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, stuffing and vegetables.  This meal is a dinner only option, although the lunch menu at Liberty Tree is impressive as well, just not a family style meal.

Another option you might enjoy is Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge.  A favorite of my meat and potato lovers is the all you can eat skillet, which includes ribs, chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket and side dishes of mashed potatoes, cowboy beans, salad, cole slaw, and corn on the cob.  They have a regular menu featuring some homestyle favorites like pot roast and meatloaf as well.

The Rose and Crown at EPCOT serves very traditional pub style foods, including a Sunday roast with roasted potatoes, bangers and mash (sausages and mashed potatoes), and even a shepherd's pie, which is seasoned beef topped with vegetables and mashed potatoes.

As for character dining, we love Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary.  The buffet is very nice, but you'll find great character interaction and a lot of fun here.  Other alternatives are the Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom, which currently features Pooh and Friends.  Donald's Safari breakfast at Animal Kingdom is another fun filled character meal.

I hope your vacation is magical and your meals delicious!
