We are coming in September and staying at Port Orleans Riverside. If we go to Chef Mickey's for dinner only on our arrival day, do we need to use a Park Admission to get to The Contemporary? Should we take a taxi?

    Hi Kathi,

There is this feeling that washes over us once we enter the "Disney Bubble" and arrive on property at Walt Disney World Resort. Time slows down for us ever so slightly, and everything becomes just a little easier. I think that at least part of this comes from the idea that we don't have to handle transportation at all while on vacation. We use the complementary and convenient system of boats, busses, and monorails exclusively to bring us from place to place. We use this time to giggle with excitement over the day ahead, or to chat about our favorite experiences of the day. I really treasure these quiet moments with my family.

For your dinner at Chef Mickey's on your thrilling arrival day, simply board a bus headed for Magic Kingdom Park from Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside.  When you reach Magic Kingdom Park, walk towards the front gates. Just before the security check-point area, you could either turn right and take the 5-minute stroll on the sidewalk from the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park to Disney's Contemporary Resort, or turn left to walk up the ramp to the Resort Monorail Loop.  The first time you ride the Monorail right through the center of the iconic Resort is so special!  Chef Mickey's is located on the fourth floor of the resort, just one short escalator ride down from the Monorail platform or a quick elevator ride up from the first floor lobby. I would make sure to give yourself about an hour for total travel time.

Since you will not actually enter a theme park in your travels, you do not need a ticket.

I hope that helps you with your plans, Kathi! Please visit us again with any other questions.

    Wishing you many magical memories,

    Sally
