Coming in on St. Patrick's Day and staying 10 days. Which restaurants offer vegetarian lunch or dinner options and Character din? This is my kids' first trip and want to know if the mono-rail is free? I haven't been to DW since 1988. Thanks everyone!

Hi, Laura!  You're in luck in terms of finding vegetarian options for your family at Walt Disney World!  Many counter service restaurants offer vegetarian items, including veggie burgers and various salads; and table service restaurants almost always have something listed on the menu that you will find suits your dietary needs.

Additionally, if you mention to your server that you are a vegetarian, there are often other options that may be available.  Even at the counter service locations, you may find something not listed on the menu that fits your vegetarian diet, so just ask!  At the table service locations, many times, I've seen the chef come out to the table and discuss your options, so you won't have to worry at all about being hungry at Walt Disney World.

As for character dining, many of the meals are served buffet style, so you will virtually always find something you can eat.  But again, if there is nothing on the buffet that fits the bill, don't be afraid to say something!  The culinary experts at Walt Disney World are always happy to fix something that you'll enjoy that fits within your dietary requirements.

And yes - the monorail is free!  It's such a convenient way to get between some of the resort hotels and some of the theme parks - and it's darn cool to just ride around the whole loop and see what you can see as you ride in cool, contemporary comfort!

    Have a great vacation!
