Hi Kelly!
I am so happy that you stopped by today. So many people do not understand the stress that comes with dining out when someone in your family has a severe allergy.
Kelly, I am here to reassure you that your party could not be in better hands. I have a shellfish allergy and my father has a peanut allergy so we are very experienced with allergy-friendly menus and
special accommodations when dining out.
In short, you will be able to
make dining reservations at any restaurant of your choosing at Walt Disney World Resort. When you make your dining reservation, you will see a place where you can notate that a member of your party has an allergy. When you arrive at your dining location, this allergy information will be included on the print-out that is given to your server, but I always remind them, just in case.
In most cases, the person dining with the allergy will be given an "allergy-friendly" menu, but since sesame is not on the menu, the chef should come out and let you know what the safe options are. If the chef does not come out, feel free to request to speak to them before you place your order. I promise you, they will be happy to stop by.
The one thing that I would caution you about is
mobile ordering since there is not a place to notate on the order that you have an allergy outside of the "allergy menu." I find that quick-service locations in Animal Kingdom especially tend to use a garnish of sesame, so be sure to check that you decline this option when you create your order. If you think that cross-contamination could be an issue or if you do not see anything on the menu that you know for sure is safe, I recommend that you speak to the Cast Member outside of the dining location before placing your mobile order.
I hope that this puts your mind at ease, Kelly!
Happy noshing!
Sarah B.
