Coming in mid morning on Sat., July 18th, Staying at SOG. Plan to do DD before check-in, rest, 5:20 ressies at Chef Mickey. Wanted to ride the monorail. Best plan to see Wishes/ Boat Parade, outside the parks? Any other ideas? Thanks for the great info!

    Laura,

    Great questions!

I would tell you that your best bet for watching the Electrical Water Pageant and Wishes would be at the beach at the Polynesian. While that is reserved for the guests of the resort, you can certainly visit it if you are there for some purpose.

What I would recommend is that after dinner you should enjoy exploring the resort grounds of any or all of the monorail resorts (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Polynesian). I would then try to wind up at the Polynesian around 8:30.

Go to Captain Cooks (the quick service restaurant and convenience mart at that resort, located in the main "longhouse" lobby building) and get a nice late-night dessert of a DoleWhip. Take this yummy pineapple and soft serve snack with you out to the beach and watch the pageant, which starts at 9pm. Stay here for the 10pm showing of Wishes, which while somewhat far away, is dead ahead of you from that beach. They even pipe in the soundtrack from the park, making it even more fun.

That should make for a great first night at Walt Disney World!

Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
