We are coming in January. My nephew wants to ride the Haunted Mansion for the first time, but is afraid of the "stretching room". He has heard you can go around it and just get on the ride. Is this true and if so, how do we do that?

Hi, Caroline! There is a separate entrance that our family has used a few times when we were traveling with a wheelchair Guest. Most of the time that entrance still takes Guests through the stretching room, but we went directly to the attraction once. Typically this entrance is used for those needing assistance, but there may be some exceptions. The best thing to do is speak to the Cast Member at the entrance to the attraction regarding your options. Explain your nephew's apprehension and ask if you can directly enter the ride portion. If that is not available, the other option is to speak to the Cast Member at the front doors of the Mansion. Ask if you would be able to wait in the first "lobby room" until the stretching room portion has finished and the doors have opened to the doombuggies. Then perhaps you could walk directly through the room. The Cast Members are very helpful and will attempt to find the best solution for your child within their safety guidelines. Happy planning and have a Magical vacation!
