We are coming jan6-12 which is marathon weekend-- we didn't realize this when we booked and not able to change our travel-- will it be really busy? I'm really freaking out!! PLEASE HELP!!!

    Hi Patti,

I've been to Walt Disney World during marathon weekend four times. I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

While there are thousands of runners who descend upon Walt Disney World during marathon weekend, huge numbers of those runners never even visit the theme parks (well, except for their runs). In my experience, the runners are very focused on their events. They visit the Health and Fitness Expo at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, they go to bed early, and they're occupied with running and recovery during much of their trip. The impact on the parks from a crowd perspective is fairly minimal.

You will find that road closures make transportation to/from the theme parks is slightly slower on the race mornings (Saturday and Sunday) so you'll want to build in a few extra minutes for that. But otherwise, your trip should be smooth sailing.

Please let us know if you have additional questions. We're happy to help.
