coming Jan 12-18 2014, will there be a lot of closures due to it being winter and a slow period?have seen that the parks close earlier Anything else I should know about traveling in January? Always have traveled in April and May on previous trips. Thanks

    Hi Jonathan!

January can be one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World!  Cooler weather are lower crowd levels are the best perks of visiting during the winter months.

The parks do close earlier, as you've mentioned, and weather can be a factor as the evening have a tendency to be a bit chilly, so I will recommend wearing layers that you can remove during the day, and put back on in the evening. Light jacket, sweatshirt and t-shirt are good layering options. Also, gloves and a light skully or hat might keep you from getting a chill. Otherwise, traveling during January is just as enjoyable, even more so, than traveling during peak season.

Typically, the winter months do see a higher level of refurbishments than in peak season, so you may not be able to experience all of your favorite must-do's. Disney will release a list of attractions that will be closed during your visit. You can find this list at the independent website wdwinfo.com.

Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!
