Hi Erin!
Welcome to planDisney!
While you can request a late check-out at your
Disney World resort, unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee one. They’re usually dependent on availability, and while I’ve had friends get lucky when requesting a late check-out before, I’ve never been able to get a late check-out myself.
Of course, it’s always worth asking politely, though, because there could be a chance! I recommend chatting with a Cast Member upon check-in to see if they would be able to accommodate your request.
If you’re not able to get a later check-out time, you can always leave your luggage with
Bell Services and enjoy one last day at Disney World. Even if you’re not heading to the theme parks, there is still a ton to do outside the parks!
You’ll be more than welcome to enjoy the amenities and activities at your resort, such as heading over to the pool (I always pack a wet bag for swimsuits if we plan to swim on our very last day). There are also very peaceful spots around the resort to relax and try to get a good nap in for your little one before the flight. And you could always jump on the boat from
Port Orleans to
Disney Springs to do some exploring over there.
I personally love booking a character meal on our check-out date for one last moment of magic before heading back home. There are a handful of
resort restaurants that offer character breakfasts, so you wouldn’t need a park ticket.
From Port Orleans, I would recommend booking one of the character meals along the
Monorail line. That way, you could take the bus to Magic Kingdom, then hop on the Monorail to get to the restaurant. Those character meals include
Chef Mickey’s,
‘Ohana, and
1900 Park Fare.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that you can get a late check-out, but if not, hopefully that gives you some ideas for your final day in Disney! If you have any other questions as you continue to plan, let us know. We’re always happy to help!
