We are coming in for the Food & Wine Fest, however my husband is quite a picky eater. Are the food items at the booths able to be altered?

    Hi Courtney,

Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question about your upcoming visit to the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival!

My husband has a life-threatening shellfish allergy, so I know a thing or two about navigating Special Dietary Requests at Walt Disney World Resort. The answer to your question depends on the type of modifications you want to make. While many items have their basic components aren’t made at the Global Marketplace (booth) that you’ll be visiting, they’re often assembled and finished right in front of you, once you’ve ordered. So if you want to remove a garnish or a side, that might be possible. But if you’re looking to, say remove an ingredient contained in a sauce or a main component of the dish (such as substituting chicken for shrimp, for example), that may not be possible.

I’d encourage you to take a look at the menus posted online for the Global Marketplaces to see what kinds of things might interest your husband. And don’t be afraid to ask whether any changes might be possible – you never know what the answer may be! And, who knows? Maybe he’ll venture outside of his comfort zone and find a new favourite dish!

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions. We’re always happy to help.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
