Hi there, Jimmy! Welcome Home to planDisney. I'm so excited to say "Hey-Howdy-Hey" to a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member! It looks like you'll be arriving at Walt Disney World Resort next week - there's no better way to get into the holiday spirit. Let's dish about Disney Dining Plans and how they fit into a magical vacation!
Here's the basics you need to know about the two available dining plans:
- The Disney Dining Plan allows you to experience some of the fantastic Table-Service restaurants located in the parks, resort hotels, and Disney Springs. This plan includes one Table-Service meal, one Quick-Service Meal, and one snack or nonalcoholic beverage for each guest ages three and up for each night of your stay. These come in the form of flexible meal "credits" that you can use however you choose during your vacation--so you could have two Table-Service meals one day or enjoy all of your snacks in a single afternoon. You can also combine credits for some unique Disney experiences like Character Dining. When our girls were younger, we often used this option, using two Table-Service meals for a special meal at Cinderella's Royal Table or Akershus Royal Banquet Hall so they could enjoy meeting their favorite Disney Princesses!
- Option #2 is the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan. It offers each guest in your party two Quick-Service meals and one snack or nonalcoholic beverage for each night of your stay. This plan is a great option if your family is always on the go, as you can just order, grab a seat, and get back to adventuring!
- Both plans include a 16-ounce Resort-Refillable Mug. You can refill your mug at any time during your stay at self-service beverage stations located at all Disney Resort hotel Quick-Service locations. They cannot be used for refills in the theme parks, but you can bring your empty mug into the parks to fill with water throughout the day! The mugs also make great vacation souvenirs.
Jimmy, you can add a dining plan directly from your DVC Member Dashboard. When you log on and click on your reservation in the "My Plans" section, you'll see several options, including "Purchase Dining Plans". The plan is calculated per night of your stay, so you would have a 6-day dining plan.
There are so many great spots to eat outside of the parks that you'll have no trouble using a dining plan. At
Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows alone, you have
'Ohana and
Kona Cafe for sit-down meals (the Macadamia Nut Pancakes at Kona are my #1 Disney breakfast!), plus
Capt. Cook's for a solid Quick-Service option. Just a Monorail ride away, you can enjoy a meal at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or Disney's Contemporary Resort.
DVC Members do not currently receive a discount on dining plans. Discounts are available at select restaurants - you can find the most up-to-date list on the
Member Benefits site if you decide not to use a dining plan.
I hope this information is helpful for your planning (and eating) purposes! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney, Jimmy - come back and see us again if we can help with additional questions.
Stay Magical!
