Going to book dvc for Xmas into 1st wk of January. Want to switch resorts after Xmas. Because it's busy season I'll book entire at 11month then waitlist last part at 7 month. Would it cancel entire vacation or just change those last few days?

Welcome Home, Ireneusz! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney. I'm so glad you found us! It's always a lot of fun to chat about all things Disney Vacation Club, and I'll do my best to talk you through your Waitlist question. Let's get right to it!

There is so much flexibility when you have a DVC Membership, which opens up a whole new world of choices when you're deciding where to stay. While I love our Home Resort, Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, it's also great to check out other resorts! We've had some recent stays at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, and while my heart still belongs to the Poly, we had a fabulous time exploring something new.

If I understand your question correctly, Ireneusz, you are planning to book a stay at your Home Resort at 11 months, but hope to move to a different resort for the second part. If you create a Waitlist for some of the dates and it comes through, it will cancel your original booking as the dates overlap. My advice in this situation is to book two consecutive stays at your Home Resort, with the dates of stay #2 corresponding with the period you hope to be at a different resort. Then, when your 7-month mark rolls around, you can create a Waitlist for just this second reservation so your initial stay is not affected.

I also recommend contacting Member Services to assist you with these reservations, as the Cast Members there are super knowledgeable and can pull up all of the details of your Membership and make sure you have all the information you need!

Ireneusz, I will be wishing on the Evening Star that things work out for your split stay - there's no place like "Home" for the holidays! Thanks again for visiting planDisney, and please come back and see us again anytime.

    Stay Magical!
