Hi, Pat! You will be pleasantly surprised at the healthy, vegan options available at Walt Disney World Resort. In addition to items such as fresh fruit, vegetables that can be prepared without butter or oil and filling salads, you'll find quite a few innovative vegan dishes as well. Although not necessarily organic, several iconic Disney treats are actually vegan (including Dole Whips, popcorn and Mickey Pretzels), too.
With a new plant-based initiative in place, the Walt Disney World Resort chefs have continued to add new, innovative food offerings at dozens of restaurants throughout the theme parks, water parks, hotels and even Disney Springs. Recently, this has begun to include awesome options for kids with plant-based diets, too! At Table-Service restaurants, ask your server to speak to a chef if you have questions about menu options (or if you have concerns about oil or shared fryers). Quick-Service restaurants keep a binder of ingredients for the restaurant's offerings--just ask a Cast Member to show you. Yesterday, my family and I enjoyed the new plant-based "Revolutionary Meatloaf" at
Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom Park. Other restaurants such as
California Grill even have dedicated vegan menus!
If you'd like to make special dining requests in advance, you may do so by
contacting the Special Diets team at least 14 days prior to your arrival. Please know, though, that while the restaurants will do their best to accommodate dietary requirements, we cannot guarantee that they will be able to meet all requests.
Enjoy your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, Pat, and let us know if there are any other question we can answer!
Amy
