Hello Moms! We are coming to Disney World in late August with 5 people including our children 19, 16, and 9. We have ADR's at Boma, Marakesh, Turf Club, Ohana, Tokyo Dining, Cape May and Wolfgang Puck. I am not sure if DDP is a good value for our budget.

Hi Juanita! Since I'm always looking for ways to save money on my Disney vacations, I struggle about whether to add the Dining Plan too. My kids are younger than yours and generally eat from the kiddie menus, even though they're considered "adults" at Walt Disney World. Since they'd have to buy the more expensive adult Dining Plan, it usually doesn't work out to be a financial savings for us. Since you have older kids who may eat a lot more and since you're planning to dine at several fixed-price meals, the Dining Plan may be a good value for your family. Because buffets like Cape May and Boma run around $40 per person, the roughly $55 per night you'd pay for the adult Dining Plan would save you money since it also includes a Quick Service meal and a snack each day. Whether you'd save money on the days you're dining at restaurants like Wolfgang Puck and Marrakesh is a tougher call. I recommend that you look at the menus for those restaurants to make your decision. If it's likely your family will order the most expensive entrees and your family likes to eat dessert, then the Dining Plan would probably be a good value for you. If you're not hearty eaters, you may find that you'll spend less money paying out of pocket for your food on this vacation.

Come visit me again here at the Moms Panel! I'd love to help!
