Hi I am coming to Disney world with my family in 2026 but thinking of doing a solo trip. Looking at Caribbean Beach but I am no spring chicken & use a stick for walking so am a bit worried about the distances. Do you have advice re the best location.

    Welcome to planDisney, Kathryn!

I am so happy to hear you’ve got a solo trip in mind, they are so fun! I’ll be honest, my first solo trip was filled with so much mom guilt on day one, but as the days progressed, I realized how refreshing it was to have some me time. Most of my friends were surprised to hear that my time was at a family theme park, but honestly, it was the most relaxing experience. I was able to enjoy things I usually don’t with the family, like sitting and enjoying an appetizer and beverage at Nomad Lounge, and just taking in the sights and surroundings of Disney.

When it comes to distance and using a walking stick throughout your visit, I have a few tips. While I love Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, transportation is something to think about. You’ll have the option of using the buses for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, or the Skyliner for Hollywood Studios and EPCOT when staying at this resort. Both forms of transportation are in different locations. Depending on which park you are planning to visit will determine which section of that resort might be a good location to request. Jamaica is the closest location to the Caribbean’s Skyliner and offers a bus stop as well. You will have to walk over a bridge to get to the main building for dining purposes, but that’s a good spot.

When we stayed, my family stayed in the Martinique section. It is closer to the main building, but farther from the Skyliner. We chose to be closer to the main building, for food purposes, because of our little ones. I recommend taking a look at the resort map using the My Disney Experience mobile app to see which section you would prefer. To do so, click on the magnifying glass to open up the search feature and type the resort name. Then you’ll touch “Find on Map” to open the interactive map so that you can get an idea of the layout. Keep in mind that selecting a location is a request, so there is no guarantee you will be in the location you prefer.

Another great option is Disney’s Coronado Springs. I recommend booking a room in the Gran Destino Tower, which is the main building. And in that building, you can access dining and catch a bus to any of the theme parks. It’s one of my favorite resorts for both location and ambiance.

Kathryn, I hope this helps answer your question and gives you a few options. If there’s anything else we can help with, please don’t hesitate to ask! Have an incredible solo trip and remember to live in the magic.

    See ya real soon,
