We are coming to Disney World in December for the first time. I've started making dining reservations about 3 weeks ago I had no idea you could do it 180 days in advance. My kids want to go to Chef Mickeys, theres nothing available. Any ideas or suggestion

    Hi Jennifer,

How great to be counting down to your first Disney World vacation! Sorry to hear you were not aware of the 180 day booking window and missed your preferred location.

Unfortunately, Chef Mickey's is one of the most popular dining locations and often books quite early. Don't give up hope though, maybe you can catch a little pixie dust. There are sometimes cancellations or no shows even here. First off I would continue to call 407-939-3463 to check for any cancellations. Be sure to ask at your concierge desk at your resort. They can check for any last minute availability. You can always check form your resort room phone or any guest relations park location too. Lastly, if you are in the area of Check Mickey's you can stop and ask at the hostess stand. Hopefully you will time it right and pick up a cancellation. Mention it is your first Disney trip and maybe they can help you out, and be willing to eat early or late as often those times may have openings.

If all that fails, there are still some great character dining locations that you may want to try including 'Ohana and Cape May Cafe (breakfast), Garden Grill, 1900 Park Faire, and temporarily Liberty Tree Tavern (while Crystal Palace undergoes refurbishment).

Hopefully something will open up for you. Wishing you all an amazing trip!
