We're coming to Disney this June and will be celebrating both an anniversary and a birthday. Reading other ?s, I saw the tip about getting buttons at Guest Services. Any other tips for celebrating on a budget?

Hi Crystal! What a great question! Walt Disney World is a wonderful place to celebrate special occasions! You're right that Guest Services can provide you with buttons to wear so that everyone will know that you're celebrating birthdays and anniversaries on your trip. You'll be stunned at how many people wish you happy birthday or anniversary as you stroll through the parks! Also, be sure to note on your resort and dining reservations that you're celebrating special events during your vacation. When a restaurant or hotel knows you're celebrating, you may be surprised with a free dessert after your meal or a congratulatory card in your room.

If you're planning a special meal for your celebration, consider dining at lunch, rather than dinner, when the prices are often lower.  For a budget dinner with a million-dollar view, dine at the counter-service Cantina de San Angel and watch the spectacular Illuminations fireworks from your outdoor table. Although dining at places like 'Ohana or the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue is not inexpensive, you get more bang for your buck when celebrating special occasions there because birthdays and anniversaries often garner lots of fun, extra attention from the performers.

If you're taking a little princess to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for her birthday, save money by purchasing one of the less-expensive packages and bringing a princess gown from home.

Some fun, and best of all, free ways to celebrate at Disney World include watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach of the Polynesian, strolling around the Boardwalk watching the street performers, or spending the evening at Chip-n-Dale's Campfire Sing-a-Long at the Fort Wilderness resort.

Hope I've given you some ideas on how to make the most of your celebrations without spending a lot. Come visit me again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! I'm happy to help!
