Coming to Disney in Jan. Staying off site. Wondering what people do for meals? Thinking we'd eat breakfast at hotel, then go to parks. Are there places to pick up a reasonable lunch/dinner or should we plan on eating back at hotel? What about snacks?

    Hi Jodi,

This is a great question. My family usually stays on site when traveling to the Walt Disney World Resorts. We usually eat breakfast in our rooms, and when my daughters were little, we would bring their lunch with us into the parks. This was as simple as a sandwich. We always packed lots of snacks to eat to keep our energy up. We would book dinner at a table service restaurant so we could take a temperature check if we were done touring for the day or not.

I think there are reasonable places to eat at the parks. You might also look to the resorts for meal options. They have wonderful food and you get to move away from the crowds for a little bit without going all the way back to your hotel.

Another option to save on meals is to eat at a table service restaurant for a late lunch. You will be beating the crowds and saving a few dollars on a meal as well.

I am not a big eater so my husband and I will split a meal at a counter service restaurant. I also find the children's menu offers good options as well at a fair price. All the parks offer "farmer market" areas where you can purchase fresh fruits and veggies as an option as well. Better yet, buy the combo meal, substitute the carrots for the fries and have them as a snack later.

Hope this helps with your magical vacation!
