We are coming December 3rd-8th and are staying at Art of Animation. We are traveling with a 2 year old and 6 year old. We were wondering if it would be better to drive to the theme parks and Downtown Disney than taking the bus. Thanks.

Hi Misty! December is a great month to visit Walt Disney World! The parks are beautifully decorated for the holidays and the attendance levels are generally lower, which means you can experience lots of attractions with little waiting!

My family has driven to Walt Disney World many times, but even though we often have our car with us, we usually use the Disney resort transportation rather than driving ourselves to the parks. We find it so much more relaxing to let Disney do the driving, and it's quite convenient since the buses drop guests off near the park entrances, and we don't have to spend time walking to and from our car in parking lots.

The only instances that we've found having a car is sometimes preferable to Disney transportation is when we're having a meal at a different Disney resort hotel. The Disney buses travel between the parks, Downtown Disney, and the resorts, but they do not travel from one resort to another. Thus, if you want to have breakfast at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you'd have to take a bus from the Art of Animation to one of the parks, and then ride a different bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which can be time-consuming. In those situations, a car can come in handy.

Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
