Coming Dec. 7 for week with 19 year old daughter. She has food texture issues and eats limited items. On dining plan, trying to book more buffets. Can she order from child's menu (hot dog, nuggets)? Will pay adult $ if necessary, but she won't eat much

Hi Patricia! I've got one of those picky eaters myself, so I can identify with your problem. My son has a fairly limited diet, and even though he is considered an "adult" by Disney, we've never encountered any problems with him ordering his meals from the children's menus when nothing on the adult menus appeals to him. (Not just at Walt Disney World, but in restaurants everywhere, I've generally found that once servers hear that he's not going to order anything if he can't order from the kids' menu, they're pretty accommodating.)

Buffets are always a great choice for picky eaters. At the table service restaurants, your daughter shouldn't hesitate to ask for substitutions or modifications to menu items or to request items that aren't on the menu. For instance, my son often orders a pizza without tomato sauce at restaurants like the California Grill, Tony's, or Via Napoli. He's been able to order a grilled cheese sandwich at places like 'Ohana, the Hoop-Dee-Doo, and Yak & Yeti, even though that item doesn't appear on the menus there. If your daughter prefers an item from the children's menu, she can request that for her meal too. Some restaurants will even bring her an adult-sized portion of that item if she's paying with her adult Dining Plan credits.

Have a magical vacation! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
