Hi Tiffany! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
It is absolutely my pleasure to answer your question, as I get the chance to combine two of my very favorite topics:
Walt Disney World Resort and
shoes!
You'll find many opinions on which type of footwear is best for visiting the Theme Parks, and you'll probably notice guests wearing everything from minimalist shoes to stilettos. You'll see the vast majority of guests wearing athletic shoes or flip-flops, but I don't care for either. What I am looking for in a park shoe is something supportive and cushioned for all-day walking, that is not too hot in warmer weather, and will not get soggy or slippery in the event of rain. My go-to park shoes for several years have been Keen sandals. I would describe them as a sporty waterproof hiking sandal. Now admittedly, they are not the most fashionable shoe in my closet, but I can wear them all day even fresh out of the box with no blisters. Keen sandals come in styles for men, women, and kids, and have a huge bonus: they are machine washable! Other brands of sandals good for walking are Teva, Chaco, and Merrell. If I'm relatively certain the weather will be dry, I love my Birkenstock sandals. I have literally walked hundreds of miles in them in locations around the world!
My fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelists also have their go-to shoes: Jessica is a huge fan of Skechers GOWalk. She likes how lightweight and cushiony they are. Rayna spends a lot of time on her feet and loves Crocs. She has found some ballet-flat styles she really likes. Samantha, Eean, and I like to wear TOMS in cooler weather. Julie recommends the Brazilian brand Havaianas, and suggests stopping by the
store at Disney Springs. Over the years other panelists have written about their favorite shoes; I have linked to answers by
Wilma,
Marisol, and
Tania so you could get some additional opinions.
I hope that helps! Please visit the Moms Panel again if you have any additional questions as you plan your vacation.
