Hello, Amber! Thanks for bringing another great question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I, too, saw the
announcement on the Disney Parks Blog about ESPN’s "College GameDay" broadcasting live from Magic Kingdom Park on Saturday, Aug. 24. What an exciting time to be a football fan AND a Disney fan! As a general rule, Main Street, U.S.A. opens up to an hour prior to the
Park’s official opening time to allow Guests to explore its shops, grab a cup of Starbucks coffee from the
Main Street Bakery (or a Mickey-shaped scone from the
Main Street Confectionery), and make their way to the stage in front of Cinderella Castle to enjoy “
Let the Magic Begin”--the show that counts down the official opening of the Park five minutes before Guests are welcomed into Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Tomorrowland and Fantasyland to experience
Magic Kingdom Park’s many attractions.
On an average Saturday, you’ll find Guests lined up well before that hour in advance so they can be among the first to arrive inside Magic Kingdom Park. Several table-service restaurants begin serving breakfast prior to the Park’s opening as well, so you’ll find those Guests with reservations to locations like
Be Our Guest Restaurant,
The Crystal Palace and
The Plaza Restaurant entering early, too. If you’d like to be there when "College GameDay" goes live at 9 a.m., I would recommend planning to arrive as early as possible to give yourself plenty of time to go through
security/ bag check and have your ticket scanned right at or slightly before 8 a.m.
I wish you the best of luck, Amber. Maybe you’ll even run into Lee Corso on
Splash Mountain!
