Are coin press machines operational right now during COVID? My favorite past time when visiting the parks is pressing coins to add to my collection.

    Hi Hanna *o*

I am no Tamatoa but I love answering questions about Shiny things. The more sparkle the better and a well pressed, bright and shiny penny falls in that category.  Did you know the first known coin press machine, also called the penny presser, penny crusher or squisher, debuted at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893? The first Disneyland electric press machines appeared in 1987 and, what are now collector’s items, pressed out either The Mickey Rays or Bear Country, at the Main Street Penny Arcade.

Rest assured, Walt Disney World continues to make every effort in providing Guests with enhanced safety and health measures. And I am happy to report, Hanna, Guests still can collect their prized pressed pennies, throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. As you may already know, locations for these treasures are found by visiting the Walt Disney World site or entering “Coin Press Machines” in your My Disney Experience app search engine. Keep in mind, Guests must have a valid ticket and park reservation to access those machines located within the Walt Disney World parks.

Happy Penny Pressing Hanna and may your collection be filled with many Shiny, magical memories and pennies.

I am a Dreamer who has always believed dreams are meant to be the path to your future. Walt Disney, I believe, felt the same way, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Disney has always been proof that endless imagination and the passion to make them come to fruition is possible. I will never be to old for Disney, it is home to all of us Dreamers.
