Welcome back, Amanda! Your son will have a fabulous time in the Youth Clubs because Disney is so wonderful about offering activities and events for everyone, no matter what their interests!
When you first board the ship and visit the
Youth Clubs during Open House hours, chat with the counselors there about your son and his interests and needs. You can ask about what activities will be offered so you know if any of them sound like they'll be something of specific interest to your son. No matter what, there will be plenty for him to enjoy and explore in the clubs. No one is required to join in on the group activities that take place. There are always individual stations and activities that kids can enjoy on their own.
When both of my children hang out in the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab, my daughter is the one who is all in for every group activity. She is Miss Social and enjoys participating in new experiences and games with new people. My son is particular about what he wants to join in on, so when an activity starts in which he has no interest, he'll simply wander over to another area of the club to play a computer game, do his own craft or drawing, or find something else to explore. The counselors certainly invite and encourage the kids to join in just in case someone is shy and waits to be asked, but no one is required to do so. I promise that your son will find plenty of fun whether he participates in the group games and events or prefers to discover his own fun. Check the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App each day for the schedule of events so your son has a heads up in case something does peak his interest!
Have fun planning!
