Hi Moms! We are very close to 90 days out and I have heard that I need to make reservations for all my meals ASAP or it's possible I won't be able to get seats for dinner. Is this true? That's a lot of pre-planning and we're going with two 2-year olds.

    Hi Cari,

If you are getting close to your ninety day mark, I would assume your vacation is sometime in June or July. I think you will find that most Disney vacationers will suggest making your advance dining reservations as soon as you can. Many of the Disney restaurants are very popular and tend to become booked well in advance of your arrival. This is especially important during peak travel times when the crowds can be at their highest levels, like summer time.

It is always possible that you will find openings for walk up guests to the Disney World restaurants but you may need to try quite a few locations and be willing to eat at unusual times to find an opening. I know it is hard to decide in advance what you might like to eat three months from now, however most children are happier when they stay on schedule. My boys like to eat lunch and dinner around the same time everyday, so I know I can make reservations at our favorite restaurants around their usual meal times and this keeps their tummies full and helps avoid hungry meltdowns.

Most advance dining reservations can be cancelled even that day, with no penalty, if your mood changes or the kids are not hungry. Just be sure to ask if any of your reservations have a cancelation policy. I think it is always better to book as early as possible and then make changes later if it is available. This way I know we have a place to sit and relax and enjoy a meal and I do not need to worry about where we may find an opening.

    Happy planning!
