Hello Geneva! Thank you for bringing your question to planDisney.
The
holiday season is my favorite time of year to visit Walt Disney World Resort. One of the things that never fails to amaze me is how the decorations reflect the unique ambiance and atmosphere of each theme park and resort hotel. You'll see poinsettias in bright, tropical colors at
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, decorations with a handcrafted look at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and retro decor at
Disney's Hollywood Studios.
There is not necessarily a specific date when all the holiday decorations are removed. The decorations will come down gradually beginning in early January. Usually, the decorations in the theme parks remain until after the
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. However, this year has been quite unusual! With the marathon going virtual for 2021, it is hard to say whether the decorations will follow the usual timetable.
Since you'll be arriving on New Year's Day, I think there is a good chance you'll still be able to see the holiday decorations in
Magic Kingdom Park. I visited this past January and can tell you that on January 13, 2020, Magic Kingdom Park was still fully decorated for the holidays. When I visited again two days later, the decorations had disappeared without a trace.
I also have an upcoming trip planned for early January -- here's hoping we both get a dose of holiday magic!
Please stop by planDisney again with any additional questions you may have. We are always happy to help.
