Christmas cruise or disneyworld 2018 what would be better with a 6 year old and an 18 month old?

    Dear Shirly,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your great question about planning your upcoming Disney vacation!

Your question is such a good one, and the awesome part of the answer is that you can't go wrong with either a Walt Disney World Resort vacation or a Disney cruise, and I mean that honestly! You are planning to travel at the most magical time of year and that will only add to the joy and excitement that your family feels during your visit.

There are important considerations that go into this planning process, and the first that I would examine is your budget. There are a wide variety of price points for both cruising and for your Walt Disney World Resort stay, and multiple factors go into your budget, so you would want to run some numbers for both of your options as well.

Your children will have an amazing experience also, no matter what you choose, but their personalities may help you make this decision also. Are they comfortable sailing? Are there specific experiences at one or the other choice that would be a deal breaker if you couldn't do? What type of pace does your family enjoy? On the ship, all of the activities are condensed into a smaller area, so if you like to experience the magic but with less frenzy, a cruise might be a great choice. However, if your family is high energy and might feel cooped up on a ship, then Walt Disney World Resort might be better!

Hope that helps you to begin to plan your magical vacation!
