I am choosing between the Polynesian and Grand Floridian - I'm a first timer traveling with my 12 year old son - does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Diana, first how exciting planning your first trip for you and your son to WDW!  And you could not be looking at two more incredible properties.  I actually just made the same decision with my 14, 12 and 5 year olds.  And I'll tell you the overwhelming vote went to the POLY.
Both of these properties are two of my very favorites, so I decided to let them choose.  If you don't have a preference, why not let him go online to www.disneyworld.com and let him pick.  The GF of course is known for its absolute charm and elegance, not to mention its incredible dining choices.  Then you have the POLY that gives you the feeling you are vacationing on an island, even the lobby looks like you may have skipped Orlando and landed in Hawaii.  Of course they are both on the monorail system and that is an automatic plus.  You can't go wrong with either choice, but my personal favorite would be the POLY.  No matter which resort you select, I hope you and your son have a magical vacation!
