We have 3 children-5Girl, 7Boy, and 8Girl. Arrive January 14th and have five days to plan. One day at Seaworld. The other days at Magic Kingdom + Animal Kingdom-Is there something we miss out on for the age group? Waterparks in Jan? Is it warm enough?

    Hi Melanie!

It sounds like you're off to a great start planning an incredible trip for your family! I'm glad I can help a little with it, too.

First, since you have just 5 days, please, please don't worry about "doing it all". In as many trips as I've had to Walt Disney World, I have never accomplished everything! My best tip is for you to create a list of the must do items for each child at each park you're planning to visit. Each morning, head off to accomplish these rides and attractions as soon as you enter the park (the earlier the better!). Once you've taken care of the important items, the rest of the day is really a bonus - more rides and attractions and less stress on everyone!

With the age ranges of your kids, I think the Magic Kingdom is an absolute must-do. I'm glad to see it on your list! Any animal lovers in the group will be thrilled with Animal Kingdom. It's really an immersive park that transports you to Africa and Asia!

If you have time, you may want to consider visiting Hollywood Studios. I know that Star Tours is an absolute must-do for my son. He's just a huge Jedi nut! If you can fit it in, the Jedi Training Academy is a great experience for the kids as well.

As for water parks, I would play it more by ear. Many times January has perfect water park weather, but just as often, the weather is a bit chilly to be in wet bathing suits. Perhaps a compromise? I'd suggest an afternoon break at the resort pool as a good alternative if you and the kids are looking for some pool time. If you decide that the weather is just right one day, then head on over to Typhoon Lagoon for the day (Blizzard Beach is currently undergoing its annual refurbishment in January).

Hope you have a great trip and please be sure to let the Moms Panel know if we can help with planning additional details!
