Do children recieve their own keys with their names? I was thinking about buying ID necklaces for them and letting them wear them during our stay. Would that be a wise idea?

Hi, Katie!  They do provide key cards to everyone in your party - even the children.  You can tell them whether or not to allow charging privileges on the cards.

I grew up in a home with a police officer dad, so I want you to know that my answer to this question may be based on that experience.  I do not know how old your children are, but I would not want them to have anything with their name on it visible to strangers.  If something happened and they were to be separated from you, I would want them to go to a cast member for assistance, and maybe have something in their pocket or in a fanny pack with their name and your cell phone number on it as opposed to having their full name visible to anyone.

I have always felt incredibly safe at Walt Disney World, and would not expect anything bad would happen to your children, but I just know for my kids, I would feel better not having any personal information about them visible to anyone they happened upon.  If they could be trusted to keep the card inside their shirts, that would be a better option, in my opinion.

Having said that, if your kids are older, and you are giving them charging privileges, having the key on a necklace around their necks might help keep them from losing the card.  Just tell them to remember not to take them off for any reason, and wear them inside their shirt when they are on some of the rides where they risk losing them (Expedition Everest).

    Enjoy your upcoming vacation!
