My children like to collect the pins from WDW. Are the parks the only place to buy and trade them?

Pin trading is an obsession in our house and great trades are something my boys talk about weeks after returning home. With the increased popularity of Disney pin trading, it is now quite easy to find pins for sale and trading opportunites outside of the Disney parks. Pins can be purchased at all four Disney parks, Downtown Disney Marketplace, Disney's Pin Traders, and your local Disney stores at home. You can also find Disney pins for sale on the internet; ebay especially handles a large volume of pin sales.

Official pin trading takes place at any of the four parks and outside of Disney Pin traders store, (Disney Marketplace) you can find the most serious traders set up for trading opportunities. You may also find trading opportunites listed on the internet or in your local paper.

The highlight for my boys, and the only way they trade, is with the Cast Members at Disney World. Pin trading is a great opportunity for my kids to interact with the Cast Members, learn how to communicate and how to compromise. They enjoy the hunt for special pins and are proud of their ability to trade "all by themselves". We often use pins as reward for good grades or other milestones. If you are new to pin trading, it may be a good idea to look for starter packages or purchase numerous pins on the internet before leaving for WDW. This way your kids will have pins that they can start trading with upon their arrival. I also suggest finding a specific character or type of pin that each child would like to collect. There are thousands available so we find it much easier when each child has a theme or character to look for. This is a fun and exciting way to bring the memory of your vacation home, beware though, it is addictive. Happy trading!
