If my child turns 16 while on our Disney Cruise but is 15 when we set sail will he need a government ID?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Lori!

OH MY DISNEY!  You are only a few days away from your magical getaway.  What better way to celebrate a birthday than embarking on a high seas adventure with Captain Mickey!

I called to speak with an embarkation specialist at Disney Cruise Line about the travel documentation requirements for your child.  I was advised that if your child turns 16 years old while sailing, they will need both a state issued birth certificate and government issued ID if the cruise leaves and returns from the same United States port and they are a United States citizen.

If you have additional questions on proof of citizenship requirements for your cruise, you can contact Embarkation Guest Services at 1-800-395-9374 Monday through Sunday from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm (ET).

While onboard, you can make your child's birthday special by ordering an in-room celebration package through Onboard Gifts.  Also be sure to let your rotational dining team know that you are celebrating and you may get a little pixie dust during your dinner!  Stop by the Guest Services Desk as well to pick up a happy birthday button so everyone can recognize this special day.  The button makes for a great souvenir!

Enjoy making magical memories.  Happy birthday to your pirate-in-training!  "Sea" ya real soon!  Angie
