Ahoy there, Angela!
I'm so glad you sailed by planDisney with your festive question! What a wonderful cruise you and your daughter have in store! Turning 18 on a Disney Cruise Line vacation sounds like a perfect way for both mom and daughter to celebrate.
You will be happy to know that your daughter can access the adult activities and
adult-exclusive spaces onboard once her birthday arrives. You can stop by
Guest Services on her birthday to make sure her account reflects her "adult" status. They may not be able to print a new Key to the World card, but chances are they will. Either way, she will still enjoy the new amenities available to her. Keep in mind that the legal drinking age on Disney Cruises departing from most ports is 21 years old.
Angela, I took the liberty of asking if you could book a celebratory dinner or brunch (for an additional fee) at one of the
adult-exclusive dining venues, such as Palo, for your daughter's birthday. According to the Cast Member I spoke with, once your
onboard booking window opens, you can book one of these exquisite options for a date on or after her birthday. If you have any issues booking for her, I recommend that you reserve space for you and other members of your party currently of age, and then
call Disney Cruise Line and ask to add her to your reservation. Space for adult fine dining is limited, so please book early.
The Crew Members and other Guests will want to wish your daughter a Happy Birthday, so don't be shy about letting your Stateroom Host and your
Rotational Dining Team know that you are celebrating! You can also submit a "Special Request" order under
My Reservations on the website at least three weeks before your embarkation date. For special in-room decor and treats, peruse the
Onboard Gift selection available for your itinerary.
I hope this information helps, Angela, and that you and your daughter have a wonderful vacation together!
Wishing you many more magical memories,
Shannon
