As a child (1988 or 1994) I remember standing by the bridge near Refreshment Post (Africa) and watching stilt walkers and giant puppets go by I can still sing the song that played but I can't figure out what the Group/Parade was called. suggestions?

Hiya, Heather! Thanks for stopping by planDisney and allowing this OG Walt Disney World fan to relive some of her favorite memories.

EPCOT has had a handful of parades through the years, starting with the short-lived World Showcase Parade, which debuted when the park opened in 1982. The parade theme song, written by the amazing Sherman Brothers, was the very catchy "Oh There's No Place Like World Showcase." There were characters, dancers, musicians, and animals from the various countries represented in World Showcase.

I'm thinking the parade you might be remembering is the Tapestry of Nations Parade. Oh my, I get tears in my eyes just remembering this parade! It was such a beautiful, heartwarming spectacle of a parade, themed on the notion of unity and world peace. The parade featured 120 larger-than-life puppets and was led by the Sage of Time, a stilt walker wearing flowing white and gold robes. This parade ran from 1999 until 2001. It was supposed to be a limited-time-only Millenium celebration, but the parade was so popular that it not only extended into 2001, but references to the new millennium were removed, and for two more years it ran as the Tapestry of Dreams parade.

If you're feeling nostalgic, Heather, you can find the full soundtrack out there on places like YouTube. I have it on as background music quite often.

Thanks for taking the trip down memory lane with me, Heather!
