Ahoy, Maureen!
December is a wonderful time to experience all the magic and wonder of a Disney Cruise Line vacation. The sparkling decor, holiday-themed festivities and the characters in their adorable attire are just a few things your crew will enjoy on your sailing! Dining is always a highlight of my family's cruise experience, so I'm sure you are curious on how Disney Cruise Line accommodates
Guests with special dietary needs. They take these issues very seriously and do their best to provide well-balanced meals for all Guests. I suggest reaching out to the Special Services Team as soon as possible at (407) 566-3602. They will be able to share with you how they can accommodate him and the steps you'll need to take once aboard to ensure he eats foods that are safe for him. Before you even board the ship, the Special Services Team will communicate with your dining team and the chefs so they will be ready once you are aboard. I can tell you that you'll need to eat most meals in the main dining rooms so the head servers and chefs can be readily available to discuss options and any questions that may come up. Also, meal selections will most likely need to be made 24 hours in advance so the kitchen can make sure everything is prepared correctly. For example, your son may need to order his dinner for the following evening before leaving the main dining room each night. With that said, there may be some options on the buffet or at quick service that could work for your son depending on his needs.
Food can be brought on board if you want to bring some snacks for your stateroom. These will need to be
non-perishable and unopened in the original packaging. Any liquids will need to be unopened and pre-packaged as well packed in your carry-on luggage.
I hope I've steered you in the right direction, Maureen. Please let us know if we can assist you further.
Nancy
