Hi Teri!
Even though we already have a lot of MagicBands at our house, we still enjoy ordering new ones for our trips. It's part of the fun of the planning, and I string the old ones together to make a garland for my Disney-themed Christmas tree! I’m sorry the
MagicBand choices aren’t what you were hoping for. They do rotate from time to time, and so I recommend Guests check back, but it sounds like you have already been doing that. I just checked out the current selection of MagicBands available to me for our upcoming trip, and the plain grey bands are not showing for me either, but there are several other solid color options priced at $10. My son really liked his Olive Green band this summer and I am particularly fond of the Deep Purple option.
If you aren’t able to order the plain grey bands, and don't care for any of the other available options, you have a few choices. First, you can wait and purchase MagicBands upon arrival. You’ll find them at many Disney-owned and operated merchandise locations. While the styles and colors vary by location, you are likely to find a greater variety of options. You can also look to see what is available for purchase on
shopDisney. While neither of these options would include the pre-purchase discount, it would offer you more styles, and I do see the grey option available on shopDisney.
If you have MagicBands from a previous trip, as long as the battery is still good, which is about 2 years, they can usually be reused. MagicBands are assigned to Guests, not specific trips. Any MagicBand associated with a specific person in My Disney Experience can be used by the same person in My Disney Experience for subsequent trips.
Teri, you also can skip the MagicBands altogether! MagicBands are optional. You can ask for a Key to the World Card at check-in that would work in the same way as a MagicBand for opening your room door, room charges, and theme park tickets.
Have you heard about
Disney MagicMobile? This is the newest way to experience your vacation with your mobile device. You can add your theme park tickets and connect PhotoPass Photos to your mobile phone or smartwatch! And since you can already open your resort room with the
My Disney Experience Mobile App, you’ll have many of the functions of a MagicBand on the smart device you already have.
Teri, I hope one of these options will work for you. Sending you pixie dust that you can snag those grey bands for your trip!
