Hey there, Brian!
I know the feeling of not being able to secure an advanced dining reservation. It can be so stressful. But do not worry, you have come to the right place to help.
Brian, dining reservations are only required for sit-down meals. Because there are not very many sit-down dining locations inside of the Magic Kingdom, I am not surprised that you have encountered an issue
securing a reservation.
First, you should know that you do not need a dining reservation just to eat inside the parks. There are plenty of quick-service restaurants available. My go-to is always
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. I absolutely love the chicken bowl. While quick-service locations are generally walk-up counter-service, you will want to
mobile order your food ahead of time on the
My Disney Experience Mobile App. This will ensure that you have little to no wait once you arrive at the restaurant. I take the kids to find a seat while my husband grabs our meal. You can mobile order on the same day that you are visiting, but I recommend you do so about an hour before you wish to dine so that you secure the time you want.
Brian, if you are only visiting the parks for one day, I recommend that you do not try to book a table-service meal. While amazing, these meals can take a big chunk of time out of your day, and I wouldn't want you to miss out!
If you have your heart set on a sit-down meal, you can always keep checking. Many reservations open up the week before or even the night before, as people change their plans.
You can also book a dining reservation at a nearby resort hotel! If you are looking for a character meal,
Chef Mickey's is located just steps away from the Magic Kingdom, while 'Ohana and Kona at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort may not have any friends in attendance but offer a fantastic island vibe.
I hope that this puts your mind at ease, Brian.
See you real soon!
