Hi Gez,
Thanks for coming back to see us again! Your question suddenly has me craving some of
Yak & Yeti Restaurant's delicious Ahi Tuna Nachos. I can practically smell that towering plate of goodness now, but let's get back to the question at hand before I get too hungry.
I also have an upcoming September visit and secured some advance dining reservations just yesterday morning. Depending on the length of your trip you might be able to snag a reservation at this Nepalese-style restaurant into late September. It appears that the last dinner seating of the night is offered 10 minutes before the official closing time for
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Though it's possible park hours might change closer to your visit, I wouldn't expect them to extend too late into the evening. Animal Kingdom is scheduled to close at 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. over the next few weeks, even with the sun setting well after 8 p.m. I'm hopeful we'll eventually see more nighttime hours available at this park since
Pandora – The World of Avatar is truly stunning once the sun goes down. I'd recommend keeping an eye on the
Hours & Events Calendar to see if anything changes. You should be able to modify your dining reservation, subject to availability if the park hours are extended.
Last fall, a group of panelist friends and I enjoyed a meal at Tiffins Restaurant during the last reservation of the day. We were able to enjoy a leisurely meal and exited to a near-empty park. Based on the location of Yak & Yeti you will likely be directed to exit through Discovery Island once you finish your meal, instead of being able to detour through Pandora. If you're hoping to enjoy a bit of quiet time there you might want to opt for an earlier reservation and hop in line for
Avatar Flight of Passage just before the park closes. Depending on the standby wait time you might be able to experience the attraction and walk out to admire Pandora's beauty with low crowds. My pal
Jason suggested the same to another guest with a plan similar to yours.
I hope this was helpful, Gez! Please come back and see us again with more planning questions. Wishing you a magical visit!
Magic and memories,
Amy
