A big Aloha Barbara! Welcome to planDisney. It sounds like you’re planning a magical vacation to
Aulani! And I’d be happy to show you where to check for available rooms.
First off, let’s talk about the wide range of accommodations you’ll find at Aulani. There are two types—
standard hotel rooms and suites, and
Disney Vacation Club villas, which range from studios with a kitchenette to 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom villas with a full kitchen and washer/dryer. You don’t need to be a Disney Vacation Club member to book these villas.
To check availability for both accommodation types, visit the
Aulani website and enter your dates and party size in the Build Your Vacation section at the top of the homepage. Alternatively, you can call Aulani at 866-443-4763 and a Cast Member would be happy to check which rooms are available for your dates. Also, keep an eye on the
Special Offers page in case any promotions apply to your trip!
If you’re a Disney Vacation Club member booking a room with Vacation Points, the inventory is separate from the Aulani website. Head to the
Disney Vacation Club website and search for availability under the Plan Vacation drop down menu at the top.
December is an extra magical time to stay at Aulani because the lobby is filled with sparkling, island-inspired Christmas decorations! When I was there a few Decembers ago, there were also carolers and performers singing seasonal songs that really got my family in the holiday spirit!
Before your trip, be sure to download the
Aulani Resort app. It has a resort map and the daily activity schedule, and you can also do things like book dining reservations and mobile order food. I like to poke around before my trip to get an idea of what’s going on at the resort. Keep in mind that character meet and greets are added to the schedule each day in the morning, so you won’t be able to preview the characters that will be out later in the week.
Some activities require a reservation and can be booked in advance through the
Pau Hana Room website. Don’t miss my two favorites, the ‘Ohana Ho’okani Pila ‘ukulele lessons and Family Fun Animation. They’re really popular and fill up quickly, so I’d recommend reserving them right when your booking window opens. Currently, reservations open 45 days in advance at midnight Hawaii time. This has shifted from time to time in the past, so confirm the exact booking window a few days before you’re getting ready to reserve your activities (I usually do this by checking the website a day or two before the date I want to see when the activities become available).
I hope you have a pixie-dusted stay at Aulani in December! If you have any other questions, you’re always welcome at planDisney.
