How do the characters know to talk to you in English or French?

Bonjour! Good Day! How is your family, Lauren?!

I’m so glad you stopped by with such a great question—it’s one I absolutely love to answer! Disneyland Paris is truly a place where magic comes alive in the most unique ways, and one of my favorite parts of the resort is how effortlessly it embraces a blend of cultures. It’s not just a visit to a Disney park; it’s an experience where languages, stories, and smiles come together to create something unforgettable.

The ability of characters to switch seamlessly between English and French is part of this resort’s unique charm. When you approach a character, they’ll usually greet you in a neutral way—a warm smile, a friendly wave, or a playful gesture—giving you the chance to lead the way. They’ll happily chat with you in English. Or if you start the conversation  with “Bonjour!” They’ll respond in French. It’s all about making sure every Guest feels welcome and at home, no matter where they’re from.

You’ll find this bilingual magic shining even brighter at character dining experiences like Auberge de Cendrillon and La Table de Lumière. Here, characters take their cue from how you greet them. It’s such a thoughtful touch that adds to the personalized, welcoming atmosphere of these enchanting meals.

But the bilingual magic doesn’t stop there! One of the most impressive examples is during TOGETHER: A Pixar Musical Adventure over at Walt Disney Studios. This show effortlessly weaves English and French into its storytelling, with characters transitioning seamlessly between the two. Performers use gestures, context, and emotional cues to make sure everyone, regardless of language, can follow along and feel immersed in the adventure. It’s an incredible way to celebrate the diversity of Disneyland Paris while making Guests of all ages feel right at home. It might even inspire you and your Mouseketeers to try out a few French phrases yourselves! I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re all singing along in both languages by the finale!

I hope this helps ease any worries, Lauren, and gets you even more excited for your visit! Wishing you and your cast of characters a springtime filled with magique and unforgettable memories.

    C’est la fệte!
