when changing time zones do we change our clocks on board the DCL?

Ahoy there, Louise! Welcome, and thanks for visiting us with your question.

Louise, this is a tough question to answer without more information, but I'll tell you that the person who has the final say as to whether or not you'll change your time is the Captain of your Disney Cruise Line ship. So, when does the Captain of the ship change ship's time?

Well, Louise, you will almost definitely see a time zone change if you are on a cruise like a Transatlantic voyage. The ship usually goes by the time in the local time zone you are in when it comes to these longer cruises unless you're passing through an area where the time zones are changing quickly. The Captain may also switch to local time zones when you are in port. This is when you are going to want to keep an eye on your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. It will tell you in the app whether or not you will be switching time zones, and you may get a note in your stateroom the night before you go into a port to let you know you'll be switching time zones.

The important thing to remember here is that if you have a smartphone or smartwatch that will automatically update to the local time zone, you want to check that Navigator app. If you head off of the ship on your own, stay in ship's time if the Captain hasn't changed time zones so you won't be late getting back to the ship.

Have an absolutely amazing trip, Louise!
