    Changed res. from GF cafe to Kona on 9-15-09 have 7:35 am res staying contemp. would like to go to AK for opening time can we make it? and what time should we leave Contemp to get to kona . You guys are the best info source out there thank you!

    Thank you so much for the compliment, we all love helping everyone!

    The amount of time spent eating breakfast will vary hugely from party to party depending on the size and what you order but you should just about make it to Animal Kingdom for the 9am opening. You probably won't have a good view of the opening ceremony but you will have a head start on most of the other guests for all the rides. To find the bus to Animal Kingdom from Kona Cafe you will need to take the stairs down to the ground floor and follow the signs, the journey will take about 25 minutes.

    Kona is located at the Polynesian Resort, this is only 2 stops on the monorail from the Contemporary Resort and takes about 10 minutes. To be safe I would leave your resort at about 7am incase you need to wait for the monorail to arrive or if it gets held up for any reason. If you are early go ahead and check in at Kona, you may find they will seat you a little early which will give you more time to get to AK.
