Hello Sonya!
Welcome to planDisney! Your visit to the
Walt Disney World Resort is just around the corner, so I hope you are getting packed and ready to go!
When changing the dates of your visit, there are two things to consider. First, let’s talk about your
Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets. If you have a multi-day ticket, as long as the first day you plan to visit a theme park has not changed, you don’t need to do anything in terms of the ticket itself. If you have a single day ticket and will be visiting on an alternate day, or you need to change the first day of your multi-day ticket, you’ll need to modify the ticket and pay any additional fees if the new day you wish to visit is set at a higher price point than the original day. For most ticket types you can do this in the
My Disney Experience Mobile App. Click on "My Tickets" and then "Change Tickets." Follow the prompts and pay any additional fees if needed. If you are unable to make the changes this way, you can
call ticketing for assistance.
Then we need to talk about reservations.
Disney’s Park Pass Reservations are required for each Guest in addition to a theme park ticket, to enter the first theme park of the day. These Park Pass Reservations cannot be modified or changed, but they can be canceled and rebooked. So, if you
see availability on another day, and your ticket is valid for use that day, you will need to first cancel the reservations you have from the
My Plans page of your My Disney Experience Account on the desktop or Mobile App. On the desktop, scroll down to where you see your Park Pass Reservation and select the box to the right that says "View Details," then follow the prompts to cancel your reservation. On the Mobile App, select the Park Pass Reservation and then an option to cancel it will appear. Once you have canceled the reservation, you can make a new one.
The only concern with this is that since you are looking at a very popular time of year, with very limited reservation availability, you could cancel the reservations you have, and by the time you go to make the new reservation, the availability could be gone. Then you might be stuck without a reservation at all, so do this at your own peril. If it were not the holidays, the risk would be small but since this is the most popular time of year to visit, the risk is greater that you could get stuck without a reservation if you try to cancel and rebook.
Whatever you decide, I do wish you a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, Sonya.
Happy New Year!
