Welcome to planDisney, Marissa! We are glad you brought your question to us.
In most cases, it is possible to modify your theme park tickets. You can change the start date of your tickets or add options in the
My Disney Experience mobile app by using the menu button to select "Tickets and Passes" and choosing "Change Ticket". Tickets can also be modified online on the
My Disney Experience website. Use the My Disney Experience drop-down menu at the top of the page to select "My Plans" and then scroll down to select "Tickets, Passes & Memory Maker". Your ticket start date can be changed until midnight ET of the day before the scheduled start date. When modifying tickets, an additional cost applies when adding options or changing to a date with a higher ticket price. No refunds are given when selecting dates with a lower ticket cost.
Marissa, I understand your concern about crowds. The week between Christmas and New Year's Day is one of the busiest times of the year to visit Walt Disney World Resort. However, as someone who has visited the parks during that week several times and would not hesitate to do it again, I thought I would share my experience. Yes, it is a busy time of year, but there is oh-so-much holiday magic! Entertainment that is normally exclusive to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, such as
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade and
Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks are performed daily once the last party date has passed for all Guests visiting Magic Kingdom Park through December 31. The
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is taking place through December 30, with
holiday storytellers, delicious
holiday dishes from around the world, and the amazing
Candlelight Processional. Over at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, the Merry Menagerie delights Guests of all ages, and after dark don't miss the
Tree of Life Awakenings. Disney's Hollywood Studios features retro holiday decor, classic Christmas tunes, and
Sunset Seasons Greetings. The parks tend to be busiest mid-day, so what my family does is arrive early to enjoy a few must-do attractions, take it slow in the afternoon with a leisurely lunch and perhaps a few shows, and then stay in the parks until closing to enjoy a few more attractions. I think being prepared with a good plan and managing expectations is the key to having a great time even on the busiest days.
