Hi, Krista, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
There is nothing more magical than celebrating your birthday at Walt Disney World Resort--especially a major milestone one like the big 4-Oh! When I read your question, I immediately thought of
Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show which takes place twice nightly (Tuesdays through Saturdays) at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.
This family-style dining experience happens in the beautiful Luau Cove. It's outdoors, but under cover. We've attended in April, June and November and have thoroughly enjoyed it each time. Since you're planning to attend in May, I'd advise booking the later show (as the temperature drops a bit once the sun begins to set). You'll also have your choice of three different categories of seating, but (in my experience) each offers a great view of the show. Before the main show begins, anyone celebrating a birthday or special occasion will be welcomed to the main floor to partake in some celebratory Polynesian-style dancing. My daughter loved it when she got to dance during her birthday celebration, but there were plenty of celebrating adults hula-ing right along beside her!
During the show you'll be entertained by a wide range of talented singers, dancers and even a fire juggler! The food is amazing, too. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and the entire experience is a wonderful way to wind down the day.
Reservations may be made up to 180 days in advance and are highly recommended. You can book your reservation through the
Walt Disney World Resort website or by calling (407) WDW-DINE. Please know that prepayment for this experience is required, and make sure you ask about the cancellation policy when you book.
Happy Birthday, Krista, and may all your wishes come true!
Amy
