Hello, We are celebrating my DS b-day in 2 weeks, and I keep trying to get a reservation at Chef MIckeys. If I am unable to get one, can we just show up and wait on the day of at say, 4:00 for dinner? Thanks, LH

You are certainly welcome to try to walk-up and wait at any WDW restaurant. There are often guests that no-show for reservations. If you happen to be standing there when this happens, then there is always a possibility that you will be seated. However, I do have to say that there is no guarantee that you'll be seated without a reservation.

I was at WDW about two weeks ago. My hubby and I wanted to dine at Tutto Italia in the Italy pavilion at Epcot. We had called Disney Dining several times and were told that there were no reservations available. We decided to chance it and walked over to the restaurant and see if there were any cancelations. Unfortunately, when we got there, the hostess was VERY firm that they were fully booked and that walk-ups would not get seats that night. (We did end up having a yummy meal in Morocco instead.) On other occasions, I have been able to walk up to fully booked restaurants and be seated right away. There is a fairly significant amount of luck involved in this. You can increase your odds, as you suggest, by arriving at the restaurant early and by being willing to wait.

If you're willing to take a gamble, and you have your heart set on dining at Chef Mickey's for your son's birthday, then I would try to get a walk-up seating. Chef Mickey's begins dinner service at 5:00 p.m. Try to be there by about 4:20 and be super polite to the hostess and you'll be in the best position to get anything that becomes available.

    Good luck!
