We will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary and have rooms at the POFQ, but may come a day earlier is it worth the extra money to stay at one of the resorts where the monorail runs through it, and which one is the best choice

Hi Karen! The Port Orleans French Quarter is so charming -- it's a great resort for a twentieth anniversary celebration! The resort is just a scenic boat ride away from all the restaurants and nightlife at Downtown Disney and offers bus transportation to all of the parks.  Whether it's worth the money to upgrade to one of the three resorts located on the monorail line is a personal decision. The monorail is convenient to the Magic Kingdom and you can also use it to reach Epcot, but you'll still have to use the buses to visit Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Personally, I love the extra luxury that the deluxe resorts offer over the moderates, but people who stay in the parks from morning until midnight and aren't in their rooms much probably wouldn't find the extra cost worthwhile.

In addition to being on the monorail, the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Polynesian have some of the best restaurants at Disney World within easy reach.  Guests at those resorts are able to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks and the Electric Water Pageant from their rooms or the beach. The themed pools at the Grand Floridian and Polynesian are really wonderful. The rooms at these three resorts are larger and more plush than rooms at the moderate resorts. Of the three monorail resorts, my favorite is the Grand Floridian. I just love the beautiful theming of this resort, and I love that at night an orchestra plays in the lobby!

Whichever resort you choose, I hope your anniversary is magical! Be sure to note on your resort reservation that you're celebrating a milestone anniversary! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We're happy to help!
