Hello, I would like to celebrate my 21st birthday at Disney but I was wondering if they will let me drink on my actual birthday or does it have to be after my birthday ?

Hi there, Natalie, so glad you found us here at planDisney!

I’m thrilled to hear you want to celebrate this magical milestone at the Disneyland Resort! Enjoying the magic for special celebrations is always fun, especially a birthday! I’m happy to share more about alcohol consumption at the Disneyland Resort.

You’ll be happy to know that you can celebrate with an alcoholic beverage the day of your 21st birthday, as long as you present a valid form of government-issued identification. They will not accept an expired ID, so be sure to have that renewed early, if this is the year! I also recommend looking at dining reservation options 60 days before your visit, that is the window open for booking. If you are looking at 9/23/2024, you’ll want to check reservations beginning 7/25/2024.

While you’re in town, Natalie, the resort will be decked out in its fall gear and hopefully you’ll also have some cooler fall weather. Make sure to stop by City Hall at Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce at Disney California Adventure Park (DCA) for a birthday button. Or, you can pop into any retail location on Main Street, U.S.A., or Buena Vista Street and they’ll typically have a selection of buttons at the registers. As a heads up, DCA will offer the most options for specialty beverages to try as there are more locations that serve alcohol. I highly recommend a celebratory drink at Carthay Circle Lounge, the Carthay Mai Tai and the Carthay Club Mojito are both delightful. Or if you’re just wanting some good comfort food, grab some soup at Aunt Cass Café or some Birria Tacos at Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill, paired with a frosty beverage from Rita’s Turbine Blenders. Finally, it will be Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, so keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog for their official Foodie Guide as there are always specialty beverages to celebrate the return of spooky season!

I sure hope this helps as you prepare for your big day and visit the Happiest Place on Earth! Sending loads of pixie dust so that you’re able to get the reservations you want and that you have the most magical visit! If you have any other questions about your celebration, feel free to message me again!
