Welcome, Janelle!
My Catholic family and I love visiting the Walt Disney World Resort at all different times of year, and many times we have been here on major holidays like Christmas and Easter! Each time we're there over a Sunday or Holy Day of Obligation, we get a ride over to the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe, which is really close to Disney Springs. Last month, on All Saints Day, we took a Lyft to the Shrine for Mass and then enjoyed browsing the huge Catholic gift shop there! We've gone there on Sundays too, but also to Corpus Christi Catholic Parish in Celebration, not far from Disney as well, when their Mass schedule fit better into our plans. Both churches are wonderful. We love attending Mass at different parishes when we're on vacation and experiencing the different traditions they each incorporate.
One of our favorite experiences was last Easter, since on Easter day and Christmas Day, Catholic Mass is offered in a ballroom at the
Contemporary Resort. We celebrated the most amazing Mass that day with thousands of other Catholics who all took time from their Disney vacations to celebrate Jesus' resurrection. What a special Mass! You'll really enjoy Christmas Mass there too. Once you arrive, check your Holiday Times Guide, or ask at Guest Services at your resort, for the exact times, but typically, the Catholic Masses are at 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. A Protestant service is offered there as well at 9:00 a.m.
The best way to get there is to take
Disney's Resort Transportation to Magic Kingdom then walk to the Contemporary, or hop on the monorail for the one stop ride to the Contemporary from Magic Kingdom.
Enjoy your magical and holy Christmas at Walt Disney World this year, Janelle!
